Can Paul or Cyndy check on Betty please?
(We know she can't afford to miss a meal and fresh drink.) Please?
Happy Birthday to Kate!

After an off at Mosport, Gunnar is off the list for Detroit. Phoenix is off the list for Champ Car. Things don't sound good at the main office. I wonder if Grandpa Steates will have anything to say about the Event?

A couple of the infamous Turkey Gang were within the pool perimeter this morning. The rest of the gang was on the other side of the fence trying to push the boat trailer down the hill.

A belated Happy Birthday to Cyndy who was 22 on the 22nd. I got confused about the date, but will do better next year.
Snakes why'd it have to be snakes?

Chris caught no fish, Noah one fish, Oliver two fish.

Yay
A rare sighting, a wild Mainer lurking along the shore of an Adirondack lake.

Noah locked his grill to the truck and Kate wouldn't let him remember to pack the keys.

Coffee on the rock with Donnie.

Digging a step.

New step.

This barge went by sunday evening headed to Niagara Falls. Each of the steel tanks weighed 108,000Kgs. The tug was the Herbert P. Drake. They were going to tie up at Lock 7 for the night. It was about 7pm when they got there. Jonathan and Megan were here to see it.

Hey everyone,

Everything is ok over here. The epicenter was in the jungle, at a 7.7 mark. Lima was at 7.5. My family is doing well, mostly scared and worried for others. The house only has a couple broken things that fell with all the tremble. Telephone lines are working again and we are hearing about several adobe houses (in poor areas) going down and some people injured. So far, it has been one of the strongest ones we've had in a pretty long time, but nothing too major.
Thanks for the concern.
Today is Laurie's 92nd birthday. Happy Birthday.

Prius-Kenari-Smart

Noah did you try this?

Numb idea.

Look, we found a shed.

Dad got one of those fancy covers that Chris has on his pool, so I made a path with the old blocks.

Found one of these too.

The voting is a joke or trick by Paul. It means nothing! I thought it was for a wedding.

Tuesday, August 07, 2007

Rachel saw the voting and assumed that it was for the quilt posted on August 3. We couldn't find any quilt posted on June 10, so I guess we are going to vote for August 3. We think it looks very nice, anyway.

I was up in the Sierras for the past couple weeks. I spent some time looking for the newly-described and very rare Yosemite bog orchid (Plantanthera yosemitensis). I only found this Plantanthera:

Plantanthera dilata var. leaucostachys

I also came across some sundew, a carnivorous plant that grows in wet meadows and bogs. Insects get stuck on the sticky glands and the plant produces an enzyme that digests the insect so that the plant can absorb the nutrients:

Drosera rotundifolia

Saw some cows:

But then they ran away:

I was out on some Southern California Edison land looking for wet meadows and found this:

Big Kitty.
I stayed up saturday night and watched F1 qualifying. I would challenge anybody to say one good thing about Alonso after that. His actions were very unsportsmanlike. Although I don't see how F1 got involved with penalties. I think it should have been left to be handled within the team. McClaren-Mercedes should fire him. Especially if he threatens to go back to Renault next year anyway.
Lets just hope Robby Gordon will be able to run both races at the Glen next weekend. Both races should have plenty of sports car drivers again.
I read an article in Autoweek about Colin Braun. He said he considered Champ car or IRL. but every team he talked to wanted to know how much money HE was bringing to the deal. Jack Roush is paying him to drive. Just like AJ, Nascar is where the money is right now.

The quilt photos actually look too blue, I think. There is more green in the quilt than shows up in the picture.

Saturday, neighbors invited us to a cookout and served the famous "Cornell chicken barbecue" They have the original brochure and even built the correct barbecue pit. It was delicious.

Today, is another beautiful summer day, cool and rainy.

Voting? Which year? What for?
I have decided that I am going to sell the '98 Formula 500. It is just taking up space in the garage in Stillwater. If anyone is interested or knows somebody interested let me know. I am going to ask $1500, family price is $1200. Only thing it may need is hyfax.
