Christmas Morning Action

Saturday, December 26, 2009

Delayed post:

Last week, Cory threw a party at the farm and two of the baby goats were the "guests of honor". He started the fire in the pit at 5:30 am. After a few hours of burning, he laid green cypress branches over the coals, and then the goats, wrapped first in aluminum foil and then a moist cotton sheet. Then more cypress branches and then a few inches of dirt.

Rachel, Cory, Hannah, and Owen (left to right).

After several hours, Cory, began checking the temperature, and then decided to clear off some of the top dirt and build a fire on top.

At about 7:00 pm, they were ready to come out of the ground:

After gorging on scrumptious goat, plus lots of other yummy stuff that Hannah made, there was a doubles ping pong competition in the barn:

Christmas is over.

Another driver overlooked at the ARCA test this weekend: Narain Karthikeyan of Jordan Grand Prix fame, A1GP winner, and most recently jumping over the pitlane wall and dislocating his shoulder on his way to the grid at Le Mans leaving Charles Zwolsman and Andre Lotterer to drive the race without him.

Turner Motorsport will have an M6 at Daytona this year with Auberlen, Hand and Said driving. There are some good videos on thier website of a test. This is the Riley built car that ran a limited schedule the last two years. Another lesser team will also be running an "M6" which last year ran as a Pontiac GXPR. "We rebodied the car in 45 days.". ahhh ummmmm you what? I included before and after pictures.

Just days after Danica announces her new contract to run a limited Nascar and ARCA schedule. Milka Duno announces She will be testing an ARCA car at Daytona in Feb.. Every hero needs a villian right?

After disney I stopped in Sebring and stayed at the hotel located on the hairpin turn.

View from hotel room balcony

The hotel carried a racing theme but did so very tastefully. The hotel lobby had lots of b&w photographs of the 12 hours of Sebring over the years.

Former Toyota Atlantic Series car, ran very quick as expected, best lap of 2:02. The Atlantic was beat in one of the races by a C-Sports Racer that broke the CSR track record with a lap of 2:03. Also very impressive was a GT-1 class NASCAR type thing that ran a best lap of 2:08

We have seen this Rolex GT RX-8 in the 24 hours of Daytona. The same team was running it this weekend.

Koni Challenge ST class Neon SRT-4, this car ran in the spec miata run group and went through them like a P1 car with GT2 cars. Makes sense given it probably has a 150 hp advantage.

After a Brush Family Thanksgiving Dinner that couldn't be beat, Rachel and I went to Mendocino for a night and then down to visit Cory (Rachel's little brother) in Marin County. He recently got a job as manager of a goat dairy, where he now lives in a trailer, along with a border collie, 200 +/- does, 6 bucks, and another employee (not all in the trailer).

The kids just run amok because they can fit through small openings:

Milking time:

Rachel's friend, Liz, dropped in with Keeley and Oliver (Oliver is 12 weeks and didn't really wake up the whole time he was on the farm).

The dairy is a start up (it has been going for a couple years under the current owners) in a defunct cattle dairy. That means that the infrastructure is all really big for goats.

I had fun playing with the border collie.

some more from Hollywood studios and one of the 101 dalmations hotel we stayed at

These photos are for Jon. Oliver never stopped asking to go to this show because Jon had told him it was cool before we went. Everyday he asked about going to the car chase show. It lived up to his expectations. Cameron also liked it a lot. It was thier favorite part of Hollywood studios. The backlot tour was pretty good to though. Oliver want to know how you make fire come out of the water.

Cyndy wanted to go to the new W hotel in Boston so we did. She got a scarf and free in room drinks. With Tequila Patron of course.

We couldn't go to Thai Kitchen because the chef/owner had a dental emergency on Saturday.

First Honda, then BMW, Toyota, and Bridgestone. Now Grand Prix Cafe has pulled out of F1.

Cusine from Afganistan moved a little further southeast to the Himalayas (I didn't look to see if they took down the picture of national geographic girl, which the one in Peter Harris Plaza does have). I checked a map the Himalayas don't extend into Afganistan though maybe the cusine does carry through the mountainous regions of India, China, Pakistan and Afganistan. But the name of the mount ranges do change.

We went to Tacos Lupita instead for some tortas instead of Thai Kitchen.

We had Chinese food for dinner in China Town. It was good but Cyndy was sad because they didn't serve Hon Sue Beef anymore. The women said the kitchen was just to small for them to keep serving it and suggested something else which was good. The had 22 people in the dining room which was a little crazy. The kitchen and dining room combined is smaller than our dining and living rooms.

Good Enough continue on to see Disney World.
