I made the reservation for 1 room, 3 nights (January 25-28) at La Quinta. The total price is going to be $550 plus tax. This was the cheapest of what has vacancy and it will still be close enough to walk from the track to the hotel (a little less than a mile from the infield to the hotel, using google earth path tool) and it should also be close enough to to hear the race cars. Budget yourself for 2.5 miles from the airport to the hotel in case you guys want to save money and walk to the hotel or I am unable to be there for the pick up, so pack light, but dont go light on warm clothes.

Arrive in Daytona friday 11am, leave Daytona sunday 3:15pm.
The Speed GT race from Lagunda Seca is worth seeing. There were no goats though.
Buddy Rice?

Noah
I went to my professor's house to study her goats on Sunday.

This is a Boer goat. His name is Vlad.

Tinsel likes to climb to browse the shrubs.

On a clear day, Tinsel and Vlad have a view of the Golden Gate and San Francisco. They are both whethers.

After a hard day in the field, it is nice to just sit and chew your cud.

I'll have the sea bass over a bed of sea weed with rice pilaf and blue cheese on my salad.

Peter and I have just visited Todd and Kent and had our teeth cleaned. I would like to take a moment to remind all my sons and their family and friends to do the same. Trust me- tending to your teeth now will pay off later.

On another note- we have a pair of men's black loafers, like new, size 10 1/2 looking for an owner. They don't belong to Peter or Paul. Also, a Steve McQueen/ Bullit movie poster.

Ask Peter what he has been reading lately.

Speed is now showing last summers' Le Mans series races in a cut down 1 hour format. There was a GT1 Saleen that won at Spa, there was also a Ferrari 550 Marinello in GT1. Also two GT2 Panoz. If someone buys the Acemco Saleens and races them full time Gt1 could continue. Ford should build a GT1 Mustang 500 to replace the Aston's. All the GT2 Porsches in Eurpope this year were listed as 996's. I thought they used the new 997 in ALMS this year or was that Grand Am cup?
I will try and look into Daytona flights this week. I have to decide how many days I can take off from work for this.

Noah
This first message is for Joel. On the Rolex series website there is a test session at Homestead Miami listed for Dec. 5-6.
Also I noticed that most of the Grand Am cup races for next year are shown as split fields. Maybe they are anticapating even for cars for next year.
Our neighbor in the Willey house put a hillary sign up in front of their house. Ther are also now two UN flags flying on Old River Rd. The neighborhood is going downhill.
We went to Queens yesterday to get some bedroom furniture from Kate's Grandmother's house.
I did watch the ALMS race it was a good one. I have not seen the Champ Car race yet(wednesday) I did not see anything of the F1 race either.
GT1 class would be a bust without the Aston's.

You must watch the Champ Car race from Australia on Speed 3:30 EST on Speed TV Sunday. I juat finished watching live via internet. It was the best race of the season.

Speed 3:30 Sunday

I was able to watch the International Edition with Jeremy Shaw and James Hinchcliffe, so that did increase my enjoyment somewhat. There were a couple bad calls to a certain driver and you will see what they are, other than that great race. Almost as good as Mexico City 2005, but Mexico is the next and last race of the season in two weeks.

Justin Wilson injured his wrist in practice so RuSport will again run only one car, this time for Briscoe.

Bobby Rahal on David Letterman, “I would say that no one does more for motorsport in major media than David Letterman. He’s very knowledgeable. He is a sports car guy. Being at Lime Rock will be very nice for him." Rahal Letterman racing is fielding a GT2 Porsche in ALMS next season. Hopefully, Letterman brings his TV teeth to the race and not is weekend teeth.

Next year ALMS will enforce a new ACO rule saying that the fastest P2 car must be 1.5% slower than the fastest P1 car.

Both Acemco Saleens are on Ebay now 1 2

If you didn't get it before, that's three from Boston at Daytona.

Talk later

Oliver and Cameron can be pretty exhausting. Noah spun his car at the autocross. Cameron said he wasn't supposed to do that. Really good line-up for Champ Car this weekend with Andreas Wirth driving for Dale Coyne, Briscoe for RuSport and Pizzonia for Rocketsports. Noah was asking about where to get sports car news so I added a couple links to the side. The first is a good source for tentative entry lists for all ALMS and other LeMans based races. The second is a good news source for both ALMS and Grand Am. Speed doesn't really cover either series they just reprint press releases from ALMS and Grand Am, so you don't find out things like Dyson is running one car at Laguna Seca. Of course www.Pitpass.com is the only source for F1 and A1GP news.

One weekend Mom and Dad here, one weekend Cyndy Me to Maine, 3 day weekend camp.

Who's where what when? Yup.

IRL at Mid Ohio not Michigan. Briscoe at Rusport for last to races, Jungle Boy at Rocketsports... still waiting on Coyne driver.

Schumacher. Yay!

Paul
Overshadowed by all the Juan Pablo fanfare there were two other significant drivers in the Talladega ARCA race last friday. Michael McDowell of the Rolex series finished 5th in his third ARCA race. Also Justin Marks of ALMS BMW team PTG finished 23rd in his third ARCA start. It looks like this may be a permanent move for Justin. On his website justinmarksracing.com he comments on BMW ending its support of team PTG. "Things do not look good for 2007, I want to thank all of my friends at PTG and wish them luck in the future". Sounds like the end to me. Maybe he will run ARCA full time next year if another sports car ride doesn't develop.

Thank you again to Oliver, Cameron, Kate, and Noah for having us over the weekend. We arrived home at 10:30 pm. Oliver enjoyed his cake with some help. The car was the best part.

The tire swing was a hit.
