Rachel didn't believe me that turducken was a real recipe. Not only is it a real recipe, but it has its own song. This song is by Matt Brocchini from his album, Songs about Poultry. It is called TurDuckEn

Update on Cristiano from his brother:
Gustavo da Matta - Neenah / Winsconsin @ 29.08 @ 13:56
Once again I would like to thank everyone's support. After what happened yesterday, I have the courage and the pleasure to say that Cristiano woke up. Since then, he was sleeping the whole day, and he used to open his eyes three times a day and only for 1 minute. Yesterday he was amanzingly awake. We tried to interact with him, and he was trying to say something so hard. We called the nurse and she colsed the trakeotomy so he could speak. He tried but he didn't. So we explained what happened to him and asked him if he understood, and he said yes with his head. We asked him if he remember and he said no. He was trying to speak so bad, so we handle him a piece of paper and a pen, he started to write some things but we couldn't figure out what it was. We gave him a lip stick and he helped himself naturally, and we gave him his mobile and he opened it, and changed things on the menu. We also helped him as he stood up and walked with very short steps till the window. Then he felt tired and went to sleep after a while. Today he woke up, did the physical therapy, walking with the nurses help around the room. Then we realized that he wanted to speak and we asked the nurse to close the trake. He tried to talk, and after three minutes the nurse showed him his picture at the podium and asked him who was that, and he says, "it could be me". He also recognized our parents. Very confused, he asked what's going on, why he was there. We explained and he asked some more questions, all in english. I showed him the guitar and asked him if he wants to play, he said yes, and as I handle it to him he started to do some chords, not very tight but I was very impressed. He played for over 10 minutes and as he couldn't "really" play, he asked me if I remember something, showing the he was frustrated that he wasn't playing the way he should. Then he felt tired and went to sleep. He is doing well, he got no infections and he is able to breath on his own, but they will keep the trake till the next surgery in case he needs that. He's been walking once a day with the nurses help and the surgery migth be on friday. Keep on praying cause he have to go through one more surgery, but now we have the strongest one with us in battle, him. thanks very much!

It seems summer is ending early this year. Last year was warmer right though Labor day. We have been getting out even if it hasn't been warm. I water skied for the first time in 5 years. Jonathan tried out tubing. Christine and Megan got a boat ride.
(new Suzuki 4 stroke 115 hp on a restored fiberglass Glastron boat. A very large but very quiet motor.)
It sounds like everyone has been busy.

Despite the hurricane watch, most everyone came to work today even though it was optional.
On Friday night our company sponsored the Florida ASCE section meeting. Here we are at the happy hour portion of the event (which Chris called during) with a coworker.
And attempting to recreate a beer advertisement, looking like we are having fun.
Last Wednesday I showed Emily the American pastime of bowling, mind the flag to emphasis this.
And Saturday hanging out with my company vice president.
This weekend will have Grand Am Rolex on Saturday and ALMS on Sunday, both on SPEED Channel.

Weekend racing schedule for you to set your tivo accordingly:
(Phil, please mind that all times are in eastern standard time)
BUSCH -Bristol, Friday @ 7:30 on TNT
NEXTEL CUP -Bristol, Saturday @ 7:00 on TNT
F1 -Turkey, Sunday @ 8:00 am & 12:30 pm on SPEED
CHAMP CAR -Montreal, Sunday @ 1:30 on NBC
ROLEX GRAND AM -Infineon, Sunday @ 3:00 on SPEED
IRL -Infineon, Sunday @ 3:30 on ESPN
I obviously won't be able to watch all of this... too much at one time. Champ Car and Rolex will probably be my priorities but the IRL at Infineon last year was an exciting race.

Roberto Moreno put the first 100 miles on the Panoz DP01 at the Sebring short course. Rumor is that the car ran as fast as 53 seconds flat. The lap record for that layout was recorded by Seabass in the days following the 12 hour race this year(lots of rubber on the track) with a time in the 49s. Bear in mind that today was a shakedown test for the Panoz and the car only ran 3 laps at a time, out lap, fast lap, in lap. The car had no problems.
I'm investigating the feasibility of going to Mexico City for the last race of the year in November, and the first race of next year in Las Vegas. Daytona 24 is not in the plans.
Cyndy doesn't have Lyme disease, so by process of elimination that leaves Ebola. She's in Worcester now and will go to the doctor ?Thursday? to have her leg and arm amputated.
Antonio Pizzonia will be driving the second Rocketsports car in Montreal. The race is sold out(though it has less seats than it did when Joel and I went).
Check out Nelson's new website on the side of the blob. It's... um... yeah. Jacques Villeneuve has insulted Michael Schumacher, IRL, and Champ Car in the past week. He say's Nascar is as good as F1... so we know what he wants to do next year.
I write my own blobs.
Red Sox fans are really emotional for some reason, kind of like French drivers.

This weekend Emily and I made a trip to Orlando for a house party celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday. I took the scenic route as an alternative to 95 for most of the way up. In doing so I found twisty and hilly roads that I did not think existed in Florida and so I was able to better enjoy my car, which now has 1000 miles on it. According to Emily, I also got lost a couple of times due to dead ends on A1A that I did not anticipate. My goal was to avoid the touristy things in Orlando which proved to be a challenge. I did somehow manage to avoid all chain restaurants… we ate at a greek restaurant and a thai restaurant, though the thai restaurant was our breakfast because I refused IHOP and Dennys. The picture is from the party, we are sitting with the wife of my coworker from Schenectady. The party was fun, and the next day we took 95 all the way home, because I wasn't allowed to take the scenic route again.

Sandey and Cindy arrived at our house Friday evening. We had lunch at the Stillwater on Saturday. It rained while they were here so they could not boat or swim. Next they have to come back when it is snowing. The picture shows Cindy thinking about what to write in the guest book as they were leaving.

Megan celebrated her birthday with a piece of cake. Also we had a pool party with 5 of her friends. The weather was great. Megan liked her princess castle pinata.
On Saturday we did the Scarborough Summerfest. I was volunteered for the project graduation pie throwing booth. Unfortunately I did not get to do the throwing part. The organizers even gave Megan and Jonathan free shots at me! Also, the other guy was a middle school teacher so we were the most popular group and had to stay on for extra time.
Jonathan helped in the Cub Scout balloon race booth.

Cyndy decided to celebrate Megan's birthday with a trip to the emergency room. She thought it would be a good thing to do as soon as I got home on Friday. She got a bug bite yesterday at the zoo and it went all crazy last night and today.
The doctor said it might be Lyme disease or Ebola or something. He poked at it a bunch too.
Mario Dominguez in ALMS with Risi this weekend. the Mazda prototype is still dead, as it has been since Lime Rock. No one will be filling in for Cristiano daMatta this weekend, he is making steady progress but is still unconcious and does not respond to verbal comands. He is able to move all of his limbs and open his eyes.

I'm sorry to pass along that Christine's younger cousin Melissa passed away Sunday in Philadelphia. Please remember Christine's uncle Bob's family in your prayers. It looks like the obituary will be posted tomorrow. If so I will copy it here.

Here we have Emily and I at a wine tasting event held at one of the local liquor stores. Nobody needs to assume anything because everyone has my phone number down here, it has not changed. Therefore I am always available to give out primary information without confusion. The blog does not have to be the only source for news and information.
Sunday was another good Champ Car race, next race we should expect Nelson Philippe to go after Paul Tracy with his helmet on so that all the French speakers in the series can get a chance to embarrass themselves.

Today we went to the Cobleskill fair. It was a good time. Lots of strange people, always a good time. They have a model railroad club with a big permanent display with a heavy emphasis on the D&H. There was this cow that didn't like having its' picture taken. We rode some rides including the ferris wheel. Lighting McQueen's lesser known brother was there for the demolition derby. Cameron really liked the equestrian rides and their costumes. They had ATV drags, some tricked out with two cylinder two stroke snowmobile engines and 1" spiked rear tires.

Intersport(ALMS), Paul Stoddart(Minardi), Pacific Coast Motorsport(Grand AM)... possibly in CC next year. Cristian Klien told by RedBull that if he wants another chance in F1 with them he must go to Champ Car, which they will pay for.
Third car for Michel Jourdain with Newman Haas in Mexico City. Contenders to fill injured Christiano daMatta's seat at Rusport starting in Montreal: Ryan Hunter Rhey, Jacques Villeneuve, Patrick Carpentier.

Went to that store that Noah kept talking about, they opened one in that mall in Utica where the Old Navy used to be. I bought two shirts, Tim bought two shirts and three pair of jeans, Cyndy bought one shirt.

The rain cleared up at Stillwater. Jonathan just had a camp fire. Megan is tired and already in bed.
Mom and Dad didn't let on that they have DSL now. We can't get DSL at home but they can here since there is a main phone line into Stillwater. Also the DSL set up came with a wireless router but their Mac doesn't have an 'airport' card.
