Could somebody back home locate our copy of Paddinton Bear, I want to confirm some of the text in the version we have, exclusively if it mentions where Paddington originated from.
"This gentle bear was found at Paddington in London. In the first story, he is found there by the Brown family sitting on his suitcase (bearing the label WANTED ON VOYAGE), with a note attached to his coat which reads "Please look after this bear. Thank you." He has arrived as a stowaway coming from "Darkest Peru", sent by his Aunt Lucy (his only known relative, aside from an unnamed uncle who gave Paddington his hat), who has gone to live in the Home for Retired Bears in Lima. He tells them that no one can understand his Peruvian name, so the Browns decide to call him Paddington."......or he apparently came to be at Paddington Station by way of Peru. Sorry. Cyndy
Interesting, this is what Emily had told me, however I am curious if the copy of Paddington Bear that we always had in our house growing up included this detail, if I remember it was a rather short story, with only a few words per page.
Joel- the one you remember so well was a toddler hardpage book about Paddington's day. It ended with hot cocoa in bed. I thiink we have a longer one, but we didn't read it that much.

In the versions I've read he came from Paddington Station, that's where they found him.
